[1a Inquiry week] Everything we ever wanted to know about trains

We structured our inquiry around the KWL format. KWL stands for what we know, as well as what we wonder. The final L is for what we have learned. First, we activated our prior learning. We did this by brainstorming what we know about trains. 






 Once we had discussed what we Know, we moved on to researching what we wanted to learn. We followed our interests in trains where ever they led. 


Marvelous things trains. Great fun was had by all, investigating and experiencing trains in all their splendour. 





Next, we are going to have a special guest teacher. We will finish inquiry week with a field trip to a train museum. Choo choo.

[3a&b Primary English Class] Set and setting

Our learning focus today, was to confirm our understanding of what setting means, to use capitals as well as full stops correctly and to identify and use nouns and adjectives. As we explored the idea of the where a story takes place, we could have been mistaken for prospective homeowners, such was our concern with location location location.

Today in Math class we established our classroom norms, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving featured highly in our list of desirables. After we discussed some problem-solving strategies, we moved on to some multiplication.
