[1a Inquiry week] Part 2 the sequel.

It was both fun and educational to research trains online and in books; it was even more exciting, to get messy and make our own trains.  



With glue, tape and a dash of imagination the little people made some big trains.



Empty boxes and loo paper rolls are such stuff as dreams are made on.


We also had a guest teacher. Everyone here at Horizon would like to say a big thank you to Mr Sasaki who was so generous with his time and taught us so much about trains.  




To wrap up our inquiry week we took a trip to a local train museum where we could learn more about trains and thoroughly enjoy ourselves. 



Inquiry week may have drawn to a close, but our learning journey will continue as we consolidate our learning by filling out the what we have learned section of our KWL charts.

[3a&b Primary English Class] Set and setting

Our learning focus today, was to confirm our understanding of what setting means, to use capitals as well as full stops correctly and to identify and use nouns and adjectives. As we explored the idea of the where a story takes place, we could have been mistaken for prospective homeowners, such was our concern with location location location.

2-B「国語の学習」

２年生では、週１回、新聞記事を読んで自分の考えを書く宿題があります。自分の思ったことを簡単に書く、自分が経験したことを書く、記事に書いてあることに賛成か反対か等、段階を追って学習をしています。 　自分の考えがしっかり書けている児童を紹介します。 2017年8月6日　河北新報 わたしも、このみかんジュースをのんでみたいです。ホライゾンにもおもしろいところがあったら、この記事みたいに新聞にのって読んだ人たちが「ここに行きたい」と思ってくれたら、お友だちがふえてうれしいです。 空こうは、いっぱい人がくるところです。そんなところで、じゃ口からみかんジュースを出すなんて、考えた人はすごいと思いました。わたしの考えですが、こんど夏げんていで、みかんフラッペを出してほしいです。夏のときにぴったりだと思います。 日本語のしらべ・・・・「雪」                                            ことばあそび・・・一人ひとり自分で考えました
